There are tons of fun ways to sneak vitamin-rich fruits and veggies into your kids’ diet, including…
Pizza night, when you make personal pizzas together, topping them with everything from diced tomatoes, to colorful peppers, mushrooms, broccoli florets and more. Your kids will love making their own creations.
Elevate your veggie pizza game by topping zucchini slices with sauce, cheese and pepperoni for some straight-up zucchini pizza!
Veggie skewers are a great source of vitamins too. So, let your kids load their own kabobs with grape or cherry tomatoes and colorful vegetables like sweet red, orange and yellow peppers, cucumber slices, crunchy cauliflower and more. For dipping, just buy your favorite dips at Perrine’s Produce or any ranch dressing will do!
Same goes for fruit kabobs. Use grapes and chunks of melon, pineapple, berries…anything you like. You can also easily make fruit dip by blending equal parts of softened cream cheese and marshmallow fluff. This dip may not be as nutritious as the skewers, but it is definitely kid (and adult) friendly!
Or make your own fruit bowl by cutting a watermelon in half and emptying it by making melon balls. Fill it back up with your melon balls and add any other fruit you like, such as cantaloupe and honeydew. You can even scallop the edges of your “bowl”.
You know what else can be fun to make and eat with your kids? Spaghetti squash! Simply bake or boil your spaghetti squash and once it is soft, fork out strands that look just like spaghetti. Just add sauce and enjoy. It really is delicious!
