Cabbage is an excellent source of fiber and it is very inexpensive, but the best part is that cabbage can be a delicious part of some extremely tasty and exceptionally fun recipes. Trust me. Still not sure? Ok, buckle up and enjoy the ride because here we go!
Of course you may already know that red cabbage is beautiful in salads and a bountiful addition of nutrition, but are you familiar with southern fried cabbage? You should be!
Southern fried cabbage is easy and delicious. Simply cook some chopped bacon pieces and then cook your chopped cabbage in about a tablespoon of it until it is tender. Mix your cooked cabbage and bacon together. Then just add a little butter, salt and pepper. You’re welcome!
For another variation on this appetizing theme, try parmesan garlic cabbage. All you need to do is cook some minced, fresh garlic, thinly sliced onions and shredded cabbage until tender. Then add your parmesan, salt and pepper to taste. This, my loves, is an excellent side dish with short ribs. Oh heck, it’s really good with just about anything!
Want one more? How about shrimp and cabbage spring rolls, which may quickly become a family favorite? For this one, you need to combine some cooked rice vermicelli, cooked pieces of shrimp and a mixture of cooked shredded cabbage, a little fish sauce, minced garlic, chopped cilantro and fresh lime juice. Then wrap with rice wraps according to the directions. Hoisin and chili sauces are both amazing dipping sauces for this recipe.
